Standard fjord tour from Voss

The highlights for us on this Mostraumen Fjord Cruise were actually located near the very end of the Osterfjord, before the boat turned back around for its return journey. If however, if you are tight for time in Bergen or would just prefer a shorter trip, the very popular Mostraumen Fjord Cruise is a good alternative for you. Here is also the terminating station of Flåm railway, where you are likely to see people boarding and waiting for a train. Directly next to this is the bright yellow building of the Flåm Railway Museum, a small museum which is definitely worth a look round!

Sailboat Cruise in Bergen

One of the many tours available from May to October is "Full Pack Fjord Tour from Bergen". This is a great option if you would like to pack in a lot in just one day! Beautiful train ride on the Flåm Railway, biking, fjord safari by RIB boat and rafting at Voss.

TripAdvisor Traveller Rating:

This is one of our favourite cruises, a fjord adventure from Bergen that showcases the breathtaking beauty of the Osterfjord. And don’t miss the chance to take a funicular ride up to Mount Fløyen for panoramic views of the city and surrounding landscapes. Prepare to be captivated by cascading waterfalls, towering cliffs and serene glacial landscapes, all while cruising through clear turquoise waters. Set among majestic mountains and home to colourful wooden houses, Bergen is the gateway to Norway’s breathtaking fjords. We are Jordie & Liam, UK-based authors behind TheFlainsTravel.com. We create epic adventure & wildlife travel itineraries to help you plan your next big trip!

No matter what time of year, the weather in Norway can change fast, so always wear and bring layers. Basically, you can choose your own adventure here, and since it’s just you onboard, you get the full attention of your captain and crew. Or just for a couple wanting a truly exclusive experience on the fjords. If you are spending a day in Bergen and are short on time – and don’t have plans to travel from Bergen to Flåm – this is a good choice. The cruises can take any shape or size, from large electric vessels to small, fast-paced ones. All though the latter is often called a “Fjord Safari” instead.

Also consider the size of the vessel, as smaller ships often provide more intimate rides, and think about which kinds of things you want to see on the trip. Some cruises only take a quick tour around one fjord before returning to base, while longer ones allow you time to stop and explore. Lunch or refreshments are not included in the price of this tour, however there are plenty of opportunities to additional purchase them throughout the day. The majority of the time it is quick sandwiches and snacks on offer, but the Gudvangen village café or Flåm village stops are your best bet for more of a hearty full cooked lunch. This wonderful scenic cruise terminates in the tiny village of Flåm.

I recommend having lunch at the bakery and going on a stroll along the fjord during your time there. At the end of the Sognefjord you will find the Aurlandsfjord and Nærøyfjord, both world heritage fjords and a world heritage site. The latter is listed on UNESCO’s World Heritage List together with the Geirangerfjord (further north).

So you’re more of an explorer than an observer, are you? Plenty of fjord cruises can be combined with guided tours and adrenaline-filled activities. If we had to make a suggestion, Sognefjorden - Norway’s longest fjord - allows for plenty of thrilling activities to add some spice to your cruise. You might want to check out this great tour called "Full pack fjord tour from Bergen" which includes cycling, RIB-boat and white water rafting. See all the ways you can experience the Norwegian fjords from the charming city of Bergen, from two hours to full days. Explore the fjords in a number of ways, from traditional sailboats to hyper-modern zero-emission vessels.

Cruise along the scenic 27-km-long Osterfjord, surrounded by towering mountains, as it gradually narrows into the enticing Mostraumen strait, where mighty currents flow. This is one of the most popular cruises and for good reason! You get an entire day cruising from Bergen to Flåm, and explore the Sognefjord along the way.

The beautiful fjord landscape is rich in bird and animal life, and, with a little luck, we might see seals sunbathing on the rocky shore or even eagles soaring over us. The fjords are absolutely breathtaking, with such stunning natural scenery. There are several options for private tours from Bergen, taking you through Osterfjorden by private yacht or in a fast-paced RIB boat.

• Tickets included on the scenic cruise through the breathtaking Nærøyfjord from Gudvangen to Flåm villages on a modern, state of the art vessel. The fjords are Scandinavia's tourist attraction number one! Bergen is located in the heart of Fjord Norway and is therefore the perfect starting point for seeing the Norway Fjords and taking a fjord tour. Our comfortable, modern boats are large and spacious, with plenty of space both outside and inside.

Lengthwise it is over 200 kilometers long and stretches all the way from the Skjolden village to the Atlantic ocean. If you want that birdseye view, and do not have fear of heights, then Stegastein is the place to include on your tour of the fjords. The weather can sometimes be unpredictable, which can affect the travel route. Such as ice blocking the original route can lead to alternative route choice. The crew will continue the tour with a alternative route for the passengers to enjoy.
